My home town, Paducah, KY, is known as an art community. In addition
to the National Quilt Museum and The Annual American Quilt Society Show, it
also has a thriving art school, Paducah School of Art and Design and also home
to the Lowertown Art District. This week Paducah received international
recognition by being named the world’s seventh city for crafts and folk art by the United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It is now a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities
Network. I feel fortunate to live in Paducah and have the opportunity to learn
from very accomplished artists and craftsman.
